Depressing Statistics: FSU Humans vs Zombies Edition: Part Deux

After noting the strengths and weaknesses of the graph in the first post, I created a more representative plot, as seen below, incorporating data accurate as of 5pm 10/13/09.
The most important change to note is the intervals of the x-axis. While the previous post used the total number of hours since the start of the game as the x-axis, this chart uses active hours since the start of the game, an active hour being every hour excluding those between 3 and 9 am, to mitigate the skew due to the stagnation at those hours.

Also, one should note the fitting of a second curve for each data series, this one a power curve. With a goodness of fit ~0.96, this curve more accurately fits the data, and thus may offer more accurate predictive power. Using y=100 for the equation y=3.1769x^0.7219, we get x=118.87 active game hours before 100% of humans are infected, a far more optimistic number than last time.

Using the steeper (and likely more reflective) exponential curve y=6.0657e^0.0801x, and inputting y=100, we get 34 active gaming hours until the end, still far more optimistic than previous estimates, but much shorter a timescale than the power curve.

Depressing Statistics: FSU Humans vs Zombies Edition

Having taken the opportunity to do some statistical analysis on the FSU Zombie Outbreak, I took data from here and made the plot below.

The data for "% Infected" yields an exponential growth curve (used owing to its similarity to Malthusian population models) of y=3.33e^(0.0907x). Owing to the fact this is a percentage plot, we can calculate the time until the game is over (assuming the infection rate stays constant) by inputting 100 in for y and solving for x. This gives us 38.55 hours after the start of the game as the end of the game. Given it is currently ~21 hours into the game, we expect the game to end in 17.55 hours. However, infection growth throughout the early morning hours stagnates (as would be expected), and should be somewhere near 0, so for all intents and purposes, these hours can be discounted (from 3am to 10 am) can be ignored as part of the 17.55 remaining hours. The yields a projected end time of ~22:30EST on 10/13/09.

Future models will reflect a more accurate growth model.

In that image, I was able to discern 52 individuals from the crowd. (If I couldn't tell if it was a poster or a person, I didn't count it).
All 52 of them are Caucasian. In a typical bipartisan American sample, you would expect to see ~7 African Americans, ~8 Hispanics, ~2 Asians, ~3 of another race alone, and finally, ~38 Caucasians.

Using a Chi-square distribution, we get a Chi-square value of 25.1579, and a P value of 0.000047 .

Anything below 0.05 is considered statistically significant.

e.g. the tea party goers are not representative of bipartisan America.
